A 48-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was assaulted.
A crime scene was still in place on Tuesday morning following the attack in a car park off Radlett Road, Watford, at about 9.40pm on Monday November 23.
The victim suffered injuries to his face and hands and was taken to hospital for treatment.
He has since been discharged.
Detectives investigating the incident are calling for any potential witnesses to come forward.
A video of the scene on Tuesday morning shows the walkway from Link Road to the car park taped off as officers investigated the incident.
A spokesperson for Herts Police said: "Enquiries are continuing at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact the Watford Local Crime Unit."
