WITH Christmas fast approaching after the November lockdown, many businesses are gearing up for the festive season, which will commence when the UK comes out of its national lockdown on December 2.

The Argus looked at some of the options around Sussex with many pubs and restaurants offering a classic dine in service, while some are also adapting to the current climate by providing takeaway Christmas dinner and others are even offering hampers full of local Sussex produce.

From Arundel to East Sussex, these businesses are all offering Christmas dinner this year...

The Green Fig Catering Company, East Sussex (01323 913704).

The Green Fig Catering Company is based in East Sussex and run by Jo and John Crittenden.

This year, they are offering Christmas dinner for two, including starters, desserts and cheeseboards.

Jo Crittenden, owner at Green Fig Catering Company, said: “We’re offering a Christmas dinner package, for people who don’t want to prepare their own.

“People then have to put them in the oven and cook themselves.

“We are also doing Christmas hampers, so stuff like cheese, homemade products, things that we make such as mince pies and brownies, gravlax and other stuff such as wines, beers and local honey. Our hampers are all Sussex products, we’re trying to keep everything local.

“We’re getting quite a few orders already.

“I think cooking Christmas dinner for two people, especially if you aren’t a Christmas enthusiast, can be a real pain in the backside.

“I think it’s solving that problem for a lot of people.”

Jeremy Ashpool said: “We get the meals as absolutely ready as we can.

“But there is an element of finishing them at home.

“The turkey will be pre-cooked and need to be reheated at home, the roast potatoes we partly cook.

“Everything is simple but you have to finish the cooking at home.

“It saves the hassle of going out to the shops and fighting through people and having to get up at the crack of dawn to put the turkey in the oven.

“Every element is there, from the cranberry sauce, bread sauce, it’s all in little containers. It’s really special.”
