This is a round-up of drivers who have appeared in court in October and November for drink and drug driving in Sussex.
The Argus will focus on those with higher alcohol breath and blood tests who put other people’s lives at risk with their stupidity. It includes cases from across Magistrates’ Courts in our county.
REECE NEELY
Aged 22, of Broadwater Road, Worthing, admitted being in charge of a Suzuki Swift while over the limit in Highdown Avenue, West Tarring. Tested positive for 92 micrograms (mcg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres (ml) of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg per 100ml. Fined £325, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Ten points added to his licence.
ASHLEY BAGNALL
Aged 23, of Vineries Close, Salvington, admitted drink driving in a Skoda Fabia on July 25. Tested positive for 89mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Fined £230, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for 17 months.
GEORGE BOYCE-SEATON
Aged 38, of Court Road, Orpington, admitted drink driving in a Vauxhall Astra at the Shoreham flyover A27. Test positive for 89mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Fined £34, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for 17 months.
DAVID HALL-BARNES
Aged 47, of Sea Lane, Bognor, admitted drug driving in a Mercedes in Chichester Road while on cocaine on January 9, and drug-driving in a VW Transporter on the A259 while on cannabis on January 6. Must do 40 hours of unpaid work and pay £150 costs. Banned for a year.
PETER CLARK
Aged 55, of Tinsley Lane, Crawley, admitted drink driving in a Skoda Octavia in Northgate on September 23. Tested positive for 90mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Fined £150, with ten rehabilitation sessions, a £95 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for 23 months.
ROBERT MCCOY
Aged 38, of Kidderminster Road, Croydon, admitted failing to provide a breath test when suspected of drink-driving in Preston Park Avenue, Brighton. Also admitted driving while banned and without valid insurance. Given 34-week suspended sentence, with a £200 fine, £128 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for three years.
JAMIE CURRIE
Aged 40, of Tower Road, Lancing, admitted drink driving in a Mercedes in Lancing on June 25. Tested positive for 76mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Fined £461, with a £46 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for three years and four months.
JAY MARTIN
Aged 25, of Orchard Close, Burgess Hill, admitted drink driving in a Mazda Eunos on the A272 Traunstein Way on October 25. Tested positive for 82mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Fined £369, with a £37 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for 17 months.
JADE MORT
Aged 28, of New Road, Lewes, admitted drug driving in a Vauxhall in Kings Drive, Eastbourne on December 14, 2019. Also admitted driving without a valid licence or insurance, and possession of cannabis. Tested positive for cannabis. Fined £160, with a £200 surcharge and £32 costs. Banned for three years.
TRE CLARKE
Aged 27, of Newland Road, Worthing, admitted drug driving in a Peugeot, driving without valid insurance and possessing cannabis on April 5. Tested positive for cannabis. Fined £280, with a £30 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for three years.
LEE CHALLIS
Aged 41, of Forest View, Crawley, admitted drink driving in a Mazda Demio on the M23 on August 10 and driving without valid insurance. Tested positive for 54mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Fined £350, with a £35 surcharge and £150 costs. Banned for 16 months
