A HOMEOWNER was injured as he fought off a gang of balaclava-clad raiders.
Police were called over the incident in London Road, Hurst Green, East Sussex at 8.30pm on Saturday.
It was reported that a group of as many as six men turned up in a 4x4 vehicle and tried to break-into the property, set back from the main road. But they were fought off during the “terrifying” ordeal.
Officers are appealing for information about the aggravated burglary attempt.
Detective Inspector Gavin Patch said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the homeowner and his family. We are continuing to investigate the circumstances but believe this was an isolated incident.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a 4 x 4 vehicle in the area or anyone acting suspiciously.”
Anyone with information which can help the investigation should report it to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote Operation Parkgate.
