A SCHOOLGIRL ran to safety after being chased by a man wearing a balaclava.

It is reported the child, who is said to be 11 years old, was pursued by the man in Falaise Road, Hastings, yesterday morning.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “At 3.30pm yesterday, police received a third party report of a girl being chased by a man wearing a black balaclava.

“It was reported to have happened about 8.20pm – 8.30pm that morning near the skate park.

“The girl was able to run to safety.”

Reports shared widely online, which have not been confirmed by police, state the man was between 30 to 40 years old with white skin.

He was reported to have dark brown hair, which is becoming grey, and was wearing jeans with a hoodless puffer coat.

The spokeswoman added: “Our enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who saw what happened, or who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area at that time, is asked to contact us online or by calling 101 quoting serial 768 of 30/11.”
