YESTERDAY, we reported that a man who had been travelling in a stolen car was found "neck-deep" in a pile of poo which he had fallen into while trying to evade police.

A picture from the scene showed the handcuffed suspect covered in brown sludge, with his trousers having been partially pulled down to expose his colourful underwear during the embarrassing episode.

This is how he met his faecal fate:

The Argus:

A man was found “neck-deep” in a pit of poo after toppling into a pile of slurry while running from police.

He had been travelling as a passenger in a stolen car before climbing out of the vehicle in Wartling on Saturday and trying to escape officers’ attentions on foot.

But his haphazard plan did not quite come together.

Officers found the 24-year-old submerged in a pit of slurry, a putrid cocktail of cow manure and water, a short while later.

A picture from the scene shows the suspect covered from top to toe in the disgusting sludge after Sussex Police officers had rolled up their own sleeves to help him escape the humiliating predicament.

The stolen Suzuki Vitara he had been travelling in as a passenger failed to stop for police as it ploughed along the A259 south of Hooe at about 1pm.

Officers gave chase and watched in shock as the car narrowly missed an oncoming BMW.

The 27-year-old driver eventually stopped in Wartling and was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, failing to stop and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

The 24-year-old passenger was later detained on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

The pair have now been released on bail until December 24 for further enquiries.
