AFTER a particularly "ruff" year, an unusual Christmas event promises festive fun... for dogs.

"Pupmus" is taking place in Brighton tomorrow, as part of the month-long socially distant Christmas Pundemic festival in Jubilee Square.

The square has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland complete with a Dream Dome, ski lifts and gondolas.

The Christmas party for pooches and their owners will kick off tomorrow at 3pm and again at 5pm.

Tickets include a turkey Christmas dinner for one person and their dog, with up to two dogs per adult ticket, with a mince pie for dessert.

Prosecco and "Pawsecco" is also included, and party-goers will get the chance to have a festive photo shoot with their pup, with festive props available - which could make for fun personalised Christmas cards.

Author and vet Mark Abraham will also be signing copies of his book Lucy's Law at the event, about how campaigners brought an end to puppy farming.

The event will also raise money for Raystede animal welfare charity and rescue centre near Lewes.

The Christmas Pundemic festival has a number of live entertainment events taking place throughout December, including cabaret shows and musical bingo.

Socially distant seating will be provided within a heated outdoor area.

Brighton-based organiser Francesca Nally said she was inspired to create a Covid-compliant Christmas event after the pandemic "decimated" her business.

She said: "A response was necessary and our Covid compliant approach was created. I wanted to put on a series of events that would help support local businesses and uplift the community during a difficult time.

"Jubilee Square is a great location for us to provide an exciting food and entertainment offering.

"Our unique winter Dome will provide full protection from the elements, and will house our stage, our segregated tables, heaters and we will provide drinks from the Christmas bar."

Tickets for Pupmas are £30 for adults and £15 for children. Tickets for all Christmas Pundemic events and shows are available at www.christmaspundemic.co.uk.
