TWO people have died after a fire broke out at a residential property in West Chiltington.
Fire crews were called to the scene of the domestic fire in Harbolets Road at 09:10 this morning.
Police are still actively working with the fire service to ensure the building is safe and to determine if anyone else is inside.
A joint investigation will take place to ascertain the cause of the fire.
A spokesman from Sussex Police and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "Emergency services received a report of a significant fire at a residential property in Harbolets Road, West Chiltington, at 9.10am this morning.
"Fire engines from the local area arrived quickly at the scene, and a section of the road has been closed as emergency services continue to work together.
"The fire has since been extinguished.
"Two people have sadly been confirmed deceased at the scene.
"We have no further information at this stage."
The fire service said the road has now reopened.
