Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to rise across the district, but where are the worst affected areas?

Data from Public Health England shows that the infection rate across the district stands at 750.1 per 100,000 people.

It also shows that 487 cases have been recorded in the last seven days.

The latest data is for the seven days leading up to December 23.

Currently the worst affected area is Danbury and Bicknacre where cases are soaring.

The area has an infection rate of 1,278.8 per 100,000 people and 117 cases have been recorded in the last seven days.

Next is Maldon South where the infection rate is 920.8 and 71 cases were recorded.

This is closely followed by Heybridge where 78 cases have been recorded and the infection rate is 912.5.

Next is Great Totham, Wickham Bishops & Woodham with an infection rate of 854.4 and 64 new cases.

Burnham-on-Crouch has the lowest infection rate at 540.3 and 43 new cases in the last seven days.
