A BID to build more than 20 new homes in Halstead is currently off the table after the application was withdrawn.
Plans by Eastlight Community Homes were first submitted back in October and aimed to bring 22 homes and 50 parking spaces to land just off Cherry Tree Close in the town.
The site was previously granted permission for 20 homes in 2017, but that has expired.
In 2019, the site was acquired by Greenfields Community Housing before passing it on to Eastlight in a merger.
However, the development saw a lot of resistance from residents, with the application receiving 15 objections.
Halstead Town Council also objected to the application on the grounds of overdevelopment, insufficient parking, the width of the road and “potential danger to residents from large construction traffic”.
A decision by Braintree planners was due on December 21, but the application was withdrawn before the ruling.
