A MAIN road had to be closed after a car flipped onto its side.
Emergency services were called to the A259 Brighton Road in Lancing at 7.30pm on Saturday.
Pictures from the scene showed a red Mazda had rolled onto its off side, penning in the driver.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and the police were called.
The road was closed between the junctions of Western Road and Ham Road as two fire engines and a heavy lifting vehicle were used to recover the wreck.
The ambulance service was also called, but it is not known if the driver required any roadside or hospital treatment.
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called to an road traffic collision on the A259 at 7:26pm on January 2 involving one private vehicle.”
The road has since reopened.
