A LOVE ISLAND star is showing her support for a charity campaign by promising to take part in its abseil challenge.

TV star Amy Hart has pledged to abseil “from a great height” in 2021 in support of Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice in Angmering.

The Worthing girl, who visited the charity within a fortnight of leaving the Love Island villa in July 2019, has already completed a 23-mile run/walk from Worthing Pier to Brighton Palace Pier for the hospice.

The charity provides specialist palliative care services to 300 children and young people aged nought to 19 with life-shortening conditions.

Amy said: “My family and I have supported Chestnut Tree House for many years as it’s our local children’s hospice.

“When I came out of the Love Island villa, I was determined to be a ‘responsible influencer’ and talk to my audience about causes and subjects close to my heart, as well as my interests and everyday life.

“I was honoured to be asked to become an ambassador for Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House.

“There are lot of misconceptions around hospice care – for children and adults – but it’s so important as none of us know when we might need it.

“The hospices receive very little government funding, so donations, fundraising and support from the local community are critical.”

Amy said she also has her sights set on taking part in a running event at some point in the future.

She said: “I started getting back into running again during the second lockdown.

“I haven’t signed up for a half marathon or marathon yet but watch this space.”

In June, Peter Andre made a virtual visit to speak to the children at Chestnut Tree House.

The Australian singer, another long-time supporter of Chestnut Tree, recorded a video message for all the children and families helped by children’s hospices across the UK. He also thanked the care teams working at these sites for “the amazing work they do supporting families”.
