YOUNGSTERS are hoping to give their disabled mum a life-changing chance to spend more precious time with them after launching a fundraiser for an off-road mobility scooter.

Kelly Onslow, 27, was diagnosed with multiple illnesses which impact her mobility in 2014 after suffering from them for years.

Experts confirmed she has myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and hyper-mobility.

It means Kelly, from Halstead, is unable to walk far and struggles with pain and fatigue.

Kelly, who now lives in Stambourne, has been with husband Philip, 28, for 11 years.

Over that time she has gone from being healthy and able to now struggling to just get through the day.

The couple have three children – Florence, aged four, Dotty, two, and baby Finn, who is just nine months old.

Philip nearly lost Kelly and Finn during childbirth last year due to a placental abruption and pre-eclampsia.

That hammered home the importance of the family making precious memories together.

One of their favourite pastimes is walks in the countryside.

But Kelly is unable to join them without a special off-road mobility scooter.

In order to get Kelly out and about with her children, the family have now launched a £4,000 fundraising drive to pay for the equipment.

Kelly said: “Over the years my mobility has got worse and worse.

“I suffer with debilitating fatigue, pain, dizziness, migraines and weak joints.

“I spend a lot of time in bed and, therefore, when I’m up all I want to do is spend time with my children.

“This specialist mobility scooter would change my life.

“I’d be able to see them exploring nature and jumping in muddy puddles.

“I’m missing out on those little moments and being a part of that is so important.

“This scooter will add hope to what can be very dark times.

“It will change my life and allow me freedom.”

Kelly says husband Philip has been her “rock” during her illness.

“He’s my legs when I’m struggling to walk,” she said.

“He’s helped me overcome a lot, and my children and he are the reason I keep going.

“My children are my motivation – I want to support them and see them grow up.

“This scooter means I can be part of those outdoor memories.”

The appeal has raised £700 so far.
