THERE has been 25 more coronavirus deaths across Sussex, according to the latest figures from healthcare trusts.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust reported seven more Covid-19 deaths as of 5pm on Thursday.

It brings the total death toll at the trust to 258.

In East Sussex there were 11 more deaths over the period, bringing the total figure at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust to 302.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded seven more fatalities, bringing its total to 196.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death. This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.

Across Sussex, 1,891 new coronavirus cases were confirmed during the latest reporting period, by 9am yesterday.

In Brighton and Hove 338 more people tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number recorded in the city since the pandemic began to 9,328.

In East Sussex there were 669 new cases recorded, bringing the total to 19,596 since Covid-19 hit.

West Sussex recorded 884 more cases. It means 24,252 have now tested positive in the county.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 68,053 over the period to 2,957,472. Nationally there were 1,325 fatalities, bringing the total death toll to 79,833.
