EMERGENCY services attended a crash involving a scooter rider in the city centre this afternoon.

Police closed a section of Grand Parade in central Brighton while paramedics attended to the incident, which happened near the junction with Edward Street at approximately 1pm.

A police officer at the scene said a person had been knocked off their pedal scooter.

The Argus:

A limo had part of its front windscreen smashed and a broken left wing mirror.

At least three ambulances were in attendance, as well as critical care cars.

St James's Street was blocked due to the incident and buses were forced to divert along the seafront road and in Rock Gardens, but the roads are now open again.

Police said officers have all stood down and traffic is flowing freely again in the area.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service has been contacted for a statement.
