A six-year-old's Christmas dream wish will go unanswered because Santa is too busy to meet him.

Morgan Turner was supposed to visit the English "Lapland" last week.

The winter paradise has been created for the first time at Bedgebury Forest, Kent, 16 miles from Hastings.

Morgan's parents planned to take him and his two siblings to the Forestry Commission site as a Christmas treat.

Morgan even received a personal letter saying how much Santa was looking forward to seeing him.

But the day before their visit the family, of Kenmure Aveune, Patcham, Brighton, got a phone call saying their trip had to be cancelled because of bad weather.

When they asked whether they could be fitted in on another date, Lapland UK told them Father Christmas's time is fully booked until next year.

Morgan's aunt Jennie Clarke, of Roundway, Coldean, said: "He was absolutely gutted.

"I just couldn't believe that there was no contingency plan."

Mrs Clarke said Morgan could not understand why Santa had written to him then changed his mind.

She said: "He said: 'Why doesn't Santa want to see us?' "He was beside himself. All the other children out there must have been so disappointed.

"This letter dropped through the door for Morgan so his mum left it up in his room.

"It said, come along to Lapland. When I told the man, he said you shouldn't have given it to the children until the day.

"Fair enough with the bad weather but we just expected another date."

Mrs Clarke was due to go on the trip with her husband Gary Clarke, a driver for an upholstery company, and their seven-month-old daughter Freya.

Morgan was to be accompanied by his siblings Charlotte, 12, and Isabella, one, his mum Nicola Clarke and dad Gary Turner, who runs a window cleaning firm.

Nicola Clarke said Morgan was in the room when Lapland UK cancelled.

She said: "He was crying and so upset. He said: 'That invitation was a lie, wasn't it?' "He was devastated. It was all he had been talking about for two weeks."

The family have been promised a full refund on their £160.

A spokeswoman said Lapland UK had no choice but to cancel last Thursday and Sunday because of the weather. She said there was a danger in the forest that strong winds could break off branches.

The centre accommodates 500 families a day and as many as possible have been given new dates.

In 2008 more spare days will be set aside for emergencies.

The spokeswoman said planning regulations would not allow them to extend this year's provision.

She said: "It is very unfortunate but it has been an incredibly wet December. The last thing anyone wanted to do was disappoint children.

"They have done their absolute best to get people in as much as possible. They are incredibly sorry."
