I READ the article in The Argus today (Friday, January 8) about Brighton and Hove City Council complaining as usual about the government and school closures.

Are they using teachers' assistants as cannon fodder?

Teachers are teaching online but assistants are going into schools to look after the key workers' children and children who are considered vulnerable.

Some of their parents have been furloughed but they are sending them to school.

They are not being taught, but the teaching assistants are there to look after them.

Some of them live with elderly parents, but this is not taken into consideration.

I have not heard of them being classed as frontline workers so they may have to wait months for a jab.

If teachers are vulnerable so are assistants, and they can be infected as well but it seems it is OK to use them as cannon fodder.
