A CYCLING business has opened a new store following bumper growth in sales during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The Electric Bike Shop opened its fifth branch on the Bellbrook Industrial Estate, Uckfield, on Thursday.
The company has been selling a wide variety of electric bikes, from those designed for getting around town to electric mountain bikes ideal for tough terrains.
Last year the company recorded growth of almost 400 per cent as people took up cycling for daily exercise or to avoid public transport when returning to work.
Karl Haden, owner of The Electric Bike Shop, said: “Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic there has been a revolution in cycling and electric bikes enable so many more people including the elderly and less mobile to get out on two wheels.
“Customers who before thought that perhaps cycling as a form of transport and exercise was not viable to them have realised that e-bikes make the process so much even easier and really fun.”
The shop will remain open throughout the coronavirus lockdown.
