A TOTAL of 209 people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 10,700 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Wednesday in Brighton and Hove.
That is up from 10,491 the same time on Tuesday.
The rate of infection in the area now stands at 3,678 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 4,881.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 47,525 over the period, to 3,211,576.
Brighton and Hove’s cases were among the 393,375 recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 6,770 over the period.
In East Sussex, the number of cases rose by 431.
Official figures show that 22,186 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Wednesday - up from 21,755 the same time on Tuesday.
The rate of infection in East Sussex now stands at 3,982 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 4,881.
While in West Sussex, 677 more people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
