POLICE are investigating allegations that a fire service's deputy chief broke coronavirus restrictions.
It has been claimed that Mark Andrews, from West Sussex Fire and Rescue (WSFR), visited his former secretary twice last week in breach of the national lockdown regulation.
The 49-year-old father-of-two reportedly drove 20 miles to see Anna Colwell, 34, according to the Daily Mail.
The paper also reported that he is now under investigation by superiors at the fire and rescue service.
When contacted, a spokesman for WSFR said: “A disciplinary investigation into the allegations reported in the media is taking place and the information we have received has been passed to the police
“The person concerned remains in post and will continue to carry out their duties.”
Government rules state that two households should not mix in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.
