THIRTY more people have died from coronavirus across Sussex.

Data from NHS England shows seven more deaths were recorded by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust hospitals, as of 5pm on Wednesday. There has now been a total of 323 Covid-19 deaths at the trust.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust recorded 15 more deaths, bringing the total figure at the trust to 451.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust reported eight more virus fatalities at its hospitals over the period, bringing its total to 297.

Across Sussex, 1,098 new cases were confirmed by 9am yesterday, compared with 812 new cases the previous day.

In Brighton, 171 more people tested positive for the virus. There has now been 12,111 cases in the city since the pandemic began.

There were 392 more cases recorded in East Sussex, where 25,627 people have now tested positive.

In West Sussex, 535 new cases were confirmed, bringing the county’s total to 32,586.

Across the UK, 37, 892 new cases were recorded, bringing the total figure to 3,543,646.

Nationally there were 1,290 more fatalities. The total death toll now stands at 94,580.
