BORIS Johnson will hold a coronavirus press conference today, the government has confirmed.
The Prime Minister will be flanked by England's chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty and NHS England chief executive Sir Simon Stevens.
It is believed he will discuss the UK death toll, with a further 592 deaths of people within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 9am yesterday.
Yesterday, during a visit to Barnet Football Club in north London, the Prime Minister said some restrictions could be eased in the coming weeks.
During the visit he said the government will be “looking at the potential of relaxing some measures” before mid-February.
However, no changes to lockdown measures or existing policies are expected to be announced tonight, the Mirror has reported.
The press conference will be aired at 5pm.
Downing Street confirmed it would be taking place through a post on social media shortly before 2pm.
