A WATER company says it plans to close a key Halstead road again in the near future after works caused delays earlier in the week.
Anglian Water was carrying out work on Head Street which resulted in traffic delays for motorists who were diverted down the town’s tightly packed residential streets.
The road was closed on Sunday after the water company responded to a complaint about a leaking pipe.
Anglian Water carried out an emergency investigation to locate the pipe which took until Monday evening.
Now the leak has been identified, Anglian Water is waiting for Essex Highways to provide it with a date to again close the road and fix the pipe in one day.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “Our teams are currently working on Head Street, in Halstead, following initial investigation work, which was completed on Monday, that identified a small leak on the pipe.
“Our teams will be returning to Head Street in the coming days to complete a same-day repair.
“We appreciate this is an important route for the local community, so we would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank local residents and road users for their patience while we complete this repair.”
