AN INVESTIGATION is continuing into human remains found at a popular Sussex beach this week.

The bones were found by a shocked visitor to West Wittering beach, near Chichester, on Monday.

Sussex Police confirmed yesterday that an investigation had been launched to identify the skeletal remains.

Today, The Argus was told that the investigation is continuing as forensics work to determine the age of the bones.

A force spokesman said: "Specialist forensic teams recovered the bones and have confirmed the remains are human.

"The discovery is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries to identify the bones are ongoing."
