As river levels are rising, flooding on roads and low lying land is possible, particularly around Salfords Bridge.

Incident response staff are carrying out checks and clearing any blockages and debris from the river.

The flood informations service states: "We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Property flooding is not expected at this time, however, surface water impacts are also possible.

"Our incident response staff are prepared to respond if required."

Roads currently remain open around Gatwick Airport, police said.
