PEOPLE living near the site of an ongoing fire are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has asked people to avoid the area surrounding Mill Pond Way in Littlehampton after a blaze at a property in the street.
A spokesman for the service said: "If you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors closed for the time being."
Firefighters were called at 11.03am to reports of a fire involving a property.
The spokesman said: "Upon arrival, crews were faced with a fire involving the first floor of a property.
"Firefighters quickly got to work extinguishing the fire using two hoses and a covering jet, as well as a hydrant.
“Fortunately, all residents have been accounted for and the fire has now been extinguished.
"Firefighters remain at the scene damping down and turning over.
“We would urge members of the public to avoid the area for the time being, and residents living nearby should keep their doors and windows closed.”

A spokesman said: "We have now left the scene of this incident.
"Thank you to nearby residents for their patience while we brought this incident under control."
