TWO men have been charged with kidnapping after a man was allegedly taken to a park and attacked.

Police received reports of two men entering a property in Stonecross Road in Brighton and forcing a 26-year-old victim into their vehicle at 7pm on November 16 last year.

The vehicle, which was occupied by two people, was then reportedly driven to Wild Park, where the victim was assaulted and suffered a minor injury.

He was then moved to a different vehicle and left in Bevendean, where he sought help.

Officers made two arrests yesterday in connection with the incident.

Gary McCarten, 31, of Saunders Park View, Brighton, and Vinnie Haworth, 25, of Warrior Close, Portslade, were both charged with kidnap, false imprisonment and aggravated burglary.

They appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court today and have been remanded to Lewes Crown Court on March 3.

A 28-year-old man from Horsham and a 23-year-old woman from Portslade were previously arrested in connection with the investigation and have both been bailed while enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Simon Morgan said: "Our teams are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident and this represents a significant development in our investigation.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or who has any information that may assist with enquiries to report it to us online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Pavilion."
