A WOMAN was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taking a vehicle without consent after a late night crash.

Police shut a section of the B2038 between Selsfield Common and Ardingly for almost two hours following the collision shortly before 9pm.

The highway was reopened at about 11pm.

Emergency crews were called to reports of a crash involving two cars at 8.52pm yesterday.

Officers arrived to find that a Kia Stonic and a BMW X3 had been seriously damaged in the collision, but neither driver had been injured.

The Kia driver, a 28-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving, among other offences.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a two car collision near Ardingly on Wednesday evening.

"Emergency services were called to the scene on the B2038 south of Selsfield Common at 8.52pm. A Kia Stonic was in collision with a BMW X3 causing significant damage to both vehicles, but neither driver sustained injury. The road was closed, but was cleared and reopened by 11.30pm.

"A 28-year-old woman from East Grinstead, who was driving the Kia, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, taking a vehicle without consent and driving without insurance. She remained in custody at 8.45am on Thursday."
