THREE police officers have been charged with dangerous driving after a crash in which an elderly man was injured.
The three officers were all riding motorcycles while off duty when the incident happened in Chilgrove on Saturday, 11 July last year, with two officers alleged to have been driving faster than 60 miles an hour.
The riders were heading south towards Chichester when they collided with a red Ford Fiesta at about 1.20pm.
Two of the police officers suffered multiple injuries, while the 80-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta and a woman in the car both suffered minor injuries.
PC James Latter and PC Alan Harris, both aged 30 and based at Lewes, and PC Ahmet Yapicioz, 53, based at Gatwick, have been summonsed to court to face the charge of dangerous driving.
Yapicioz and Harris were also summonsed with driving at a speed exceeding 60 miles an hour.
The three police officers will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ court tomorrow.
