A MUSICAL theatre star will be hoping to wow the nation when she appears on The Voice UK this Saturday.

Joanne Harper from Saltdean will be performing for the celebrity judges in the final round of blind auditions before the battle rounds.

The singer attended St Margaret’s School in Rottingdean and Longhill High School in Brighton before studying music and musical theatre at Varndean Sixth Form College in Brighton.

Since graduating from the London School of Musical Theatre, Joanne has toured the world on Cruise Shops as a Principal Singer and had performed solo at venues across the UK.

Before the first coronavirus lockdown in March last year, Joanne was halfway through a UK and Ireland roue as part of the company of the musical We Will Rock You.

Things are hotting up as acts try to secure one of the final few places on a coach’s team.

The competition is tense as will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Anne-Marie search for a superstar.

Joanne’s audition comes after fellow Saltdean-born singer Celeste topped the charts with her debut album.

She clinched the number one spot in the UK album chart with her record Not Your Muse last week and it went straight to top spot.

You can watch Joanna’s progress and see whether she turns the chairs of the judges when The Voice UK airs on Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV.
