A FORMER Love Island star is set to launch a seafront coffee van offering healthy treats to customers on their daily walks.

Connor Durman, who appeared on last year’s series of Love Island, started working on the project after finding he had more time on his hands during lockdown.

The 26-year-old is hoping to launch the truck on Worthing seafront in the coming weeks and said that he and his team have been working hard to add the finishing touches.

“We’ve made a beach-shack kind of look that fits in well on the seafront and I think it will be a great way to get people down there,” Connor said.

“I live near the beach and I just thought ‘what about a coffee van?’

“We found an old van and I have quite a lot of spare time anyway and we were initially going to get someone in to build it, but I decided to build most of it myself.

“It was a bit of fun really and it’s nearly there.”

The 26-year-old salesman owns Naked Barista, a business that supplies cafes with its own brand coffee.

The van, which is to be named Naked by the Beach, will offer vegan, Fairtrade coffee, freshly juice and healthy sweet treats, including vegan brownies.

Connor said offering healthy food is important during lockdown and is his way of giving back to the community.

He said: “We’ve made a beach-shack kind of look that fits in well on the seafront and I think it will be a great way to get people down there.

“I love to think of ways I can give back to the community. It started as a bit of fun, but it’s turned into something much bigger now.

“I love Worthing and Brighton so I thought ‘why not try and do some stuff for the community’ and I thought it would be good for Worthing really.

“I feel really bad for all the cafes that are closed. I supply to a lot of cafes around the local area and in Brighton, so if people try my coffee at the seafront van and then see my coffee in other places then hopefully it will give the cafes an opportunity to get people in.”

Connor said it has been a “crazy year” since he left the Love Island villa, but he is “happy” with where he has found himself.

He said: “I got out around this time last year and I went into lockdown literally a month after.

“I never went on there for fame or anything like that. I went on there for a bit of fun and I went straight back to my normal life.

“I hang around with the same friends as before and I’m not chasing that kind of life at all. I was happy with my life before. “
