PEOPLE have received a new leaflet from the council urging them to carry on following national lockdown restrictions.

The double-sided flyer has been delivered to homes across Brighton and Hove to inform residents how they can help to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The pamphlet, distributed by Brighton and Hove City Council, warns that despite the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine, people should still not leave their home unless it is “necessary.”

It praises the NHS for its “hard work” to get the Covid-19 vaccine to everyone who is eligible, but it also reminds people not to contact their GP or other NHS services to ask for the vaccine and that they will be invited to receive it when it is their turn.

The leaflet also sets out the reasons people are permitted leave their homes under the current lockdown restrictions.

These include to shop for essentials, to go to work, to practice daily exercise, to seek medical assistance, to avoid harm (including domestic abuse) and to attended education or childcare.

Advice on booking a coronavirus test, rules around wearing a mask and social distancing guidance is offered in the leaflet.

A list of organisations offering help and support to vulnerable groups in Brighton and Hove has also been included.

Yesterday, it was announced that more than 15 million people in the UK have now had their first coronavirus vaccine.

The government announced that it had met its pledge to offer a jab to everyone in the top four priority groups in the UK.

The rollout is now being expanded to over-65s and the clinically vulnerable.
