We are expected to see highs of 11°C or 12°C this week with no more snow forecast in Sussex for February.

Last week saw bitter temperatures dropping to -7°C in some areas of the county as Storm Darcy ripped through our shores.

However the forecast for the rest of the month couldn't look more different from last week.

As the temperature rises steadily through the week we can expect to see highs of 11-12°C this weekend.

The Met Office have said that from today the whole UK will be in a warmer air mass, replacing days which never got above freezing.

Today has been a wet start across the South East however this is gradually clearing to show sunny spells and a milder day - the maximum temperature could be as high as 13°C.

It will be raining through the night on Monday right through until Thursday when the cloud should lift to reveal sunny spells.

Friday there will be rain which is expected to lift for the weekend leaving cloud with a few breaks of sun.

The rest of the month will be a lot more settled with the UK returning to average temperatures for this time of year -  there will be an increased risk of frost and fog at night.

The Argus:

Historically the average maximum temperature for February in Shoreham, the closest Met Office station to Brighton, is 7.8°C.

The average minimum is around 1.9 °C with eight days of frost and 9.9 days of rainfall.

These milder temperatures come days after thousands of residents across Sussex awoke to a dusting of snow.

Pictures from last week showed Brighton covered in a light blanket of snow with cars and pavements frozen.

Stunning pictures snapped high above Worthing also showed hundreds of rooftops covered from the overnight dusting.
