DOG walkers have been warned about a substance washed up on Worthing beach that could potentially kill their pets.
In the last few days, there have been several sightings of palm oil, which can be "very dangerous to wildlife, humans and dogs".
People have been warned to stay away from the substance and to keep their dogs on leads to prevent them trying to eat it.
Palm oil can cause pancreatitis in dogs, which can make them seriously ill and can even be fatal.
It is legal for ships to release the substance if they are at least 12 miles offshore.
Anyone who thinks they have found palm oil is advised to take some photos and report the location to the council.
