THIS picture is just like a scene from Call The Midwife.
It shows nurses, probably cycling to or from work – and is that an admirer to their right?
It is thought this was taken in Sackville Road, Hove, in about 1938. The Queens Nurses lived and worked at the bottom of Sackville Road.

Children studying some sort of military scene in a shop window in the late 1930s. Was this pre-war propaganda?
The picture of three little children fascinated by what they see in a shop window may not be what it seems.
It is thought the photograph, taken in round 1937, was set up and could be seen as some pre-war propaganda, encouraging men to sign up to be an Army reservist. The children are very well dressed.

We also have a shot from the funeral of Sir Harry Preston in 1936. He was a hotelier, entrepreneur, amateur boxer and renowned supporter of charities, among other things. There is a Brighton bus named after him to this day.
