Crawley is the only local authority area in Sussex to have a weekly coronavirus rate above the English average.

The district recorded 215 new cases of Covid-19 in the week leading up to February 11, the most recent complete figures, giving it a weekly rate of 191.3 new cases per 100,000 population.

During the same period, the coronavirus rate in England was 157.5 per 100,000 population with 88,647 new positive tests reported.

But, while Crawley has the highest coronavirus rate in Sussex, it is recording significantly fewer cases than during December and January.

In the week leading up to January 2, the district recorded 1,158 new coronavirus cases giving it a rate of 1,030.2 cases per 100,000 population.

Case rates have since decreased across the country.

Of the 315 local areas in England, only 12 (4 per cent) recorded a rise in case rates in the most recent figures update while 303 (96 per cent) saw a fall.

The rates fell in all areas of Sussex.
