THREE people have died from coronavirus at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust in the latest 24-hour period.

Latest NHS England figures show 424 people had died in hospital as of 5pm on Tuesday.

That was an increase of three compared to Monday, when there were 421.

It means there have been 10 deaths in the past week, down from 21 the previous week.

The victims were among 10,727 deaths recorded across the South East.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.

At Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, three new covid-19 deaths were also recorded.

Figures show 447 people had died in hospital - up from 444.

It means there have been 22 deaths in the past week, down from 32 the previous week.

The highest number of deaths was recorded at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

A total of 634 people had died in hospital as of 5pm on Tuesday - an increase of eight compared to Monday, when there were 626.

It means there have been 22 deaths in the past week, down from 46 the previous week.
