A COMPETITION has revealed the messiest cars in the UK and two Sussex drivers found themselves in the top ten.

The contest, launched by Euro Car Parts, asked motorists to submit a photo of their untidy car, with the chance of winning a much-needed £200 car-cleaning bundle prize.

There were more than 200 submissions from across the country and the pictures show how even in lockdown, some cars are still being treated as a mobile rubbish bin.

Ashley Godfrey from Horsham came in at number five.

Many drivers will be able to relate to the 28-year-old, who appears to use his car as additional storage space - with the entire backseat choc-full of clothing, shoes and other items.

Meanwhile, the floor inside Steven Hudson’s car is barely visible.

The 33-year-old from Peacehaven landed himself at number eight in the competition thanks to the sea of fast food and takeaway packaging overflowing from his car.

But the winner was Louise Duffy from Manchester, who said she was "delighted" to win the prize - and said her messy car was down to her children causing chaos in the back seat.

Helen Robinson, corporate communications director at Euro Car Parts, said: “Cleaning out your car can often fall to the bottom of your list of jobs, and we’re sure that for many, these images may be a familiar sight.

“Giving your car a clean from time to time means you and your passengers will have a safer and more pleasant driving experience.

“We recommend cleaning the inside of your car fairly regularly, especially now that many vehicles aren’t being used as often, as unpleasant smells may build up.

“We hope the cleaning bundle helps Louise keep her car in sparkling condition from now on.”
