There was a welcome spell of sunshine in Brighton and Hove today after a freezing start to the year.
Temperatures rose to 12C as the clouds parted to reveal blue sky over the Sussex coast.
This comes just two weeks after snow fell in the city as Storm Darcy brought chilly easterly winds from Ukraine and the Black Sea areas.
Looking to the week ahead, clouds are expected to once again cover Brighton.
However, the Met Office is expecting little to no rain in the city, with the mild conditions of the weekend continuing until at least next Saturday.
Temperatures are forecast to remain between 8C and 11C until Friday, dropping a couple of degrees over the weekend.
A Met Office spokesman said there would be rain in central and northern parts of England tomorrow, while the South East would enjoy drier conditions.
The weather service also said the weather would be “mild for most, especially in the south east corner”.
Forecasting the UK weather for the rest of the week, a Met Office spokesman said: “It will be windy with rain then showers in the north and west, with the heaviest rain seen on Tuesday.
“It will be drier with some sunshine in the south and east. Mild overall, with very mild in the south east.”
