A man was "attacked with a claw hammer" at an address in Crawley yesterday.
Police have now arrested a man in connection with the incident in Leopold Road at 4.24pm.
Officers were called to reports that a man had been assaulted with a claw hammer at an address in the street.
They attended the scene and found a man had sustained minor injuries in the incident. He did not require hospital treatment.
A 55-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and he remains in police custody at this stage.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "This was an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community."
