A YOUTH battered a person after slights against his cousin on social media.

The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, put the person in hospital in Crawley because of the attack.

Worthing Youth Court heard how the 15-year-old had punched the person to the floor, knocking him unconscious, then kicked him on the ground.

He admitted inflicting actual bodily harm.

Court documents noted the victim had called his cousin a “derogatory name on social media”.

It was revealed the youth “applied more kicks while the victim was on the ground” during the joint attack.

He appeared before the court for sentencing last month.

The youth was ordered to pay £50 compensation, a £22 surcharge and £20 costs over the incident.
