WHILE the Prime Minister may have announced a roadmap to ending lockdown, many of us will still be looking for ways to entertain ourselves at home.

But after months of staying indoors, you have may have think you have exhausted all the options streaming platforms have to offer.

If you are looking for a new series to binge, we have complied a handy guide to some of this year’s best TV shows and they all have one thing in common – they were filmed in Sussex.

With our breath-taking scenery, vibrant cities and vast history, it is easy to see why the county is often chosen as a backdrop.

Here are some of the top choices you can enjoy while keeping an eye out for familiar spots.

Behind Her Eyes, Netflix

The mini-series tells the story of single mother Louise, played by Simona Brown of The Night Manager, who has an affair with her psychiatrist boss David (Bateman) but goes on to befriend his wife Adele (Hewson).

It is described as a “dark, psychological tale of suspense and twisted revelations”.

Part of the filming took place at Cosiez Café in St James Street, Brighton and on London Road between Cuckfield and Balcombe.

Rob and Romesh VS, Sky One

The third series Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan challenge-based TV series has returned to our screens.

In episode three, the comedians were challenged to try their hand at drag performing with the help of Drag race stars Michelle Visage and The Vivienne.

For their debut drag performance, the duo took to the stage at Proud Cabaret in St George’s Road in Brighton.

Rob told The Irish News the most stressful film of the entire series was filmed on Brighton beach.

He said: “We had to film the end scene, of us on Brighton Beach, and just before we filmed that I was told we were going into Tier 4 – all the shops were shutting at midnight, I couldn't get my wife's Christmas present and Christmas was cancelled.

“So, for me, that was probably the most stressful scene that we did. I'll remember that forever.

Bridgerton, Netflix

Bridgerton quickly became one of the streaming giants most watched show ever.

For those who have not seen the show yet, Bridgerton is a witty, romantic drama about eight siblings looking for love and happiness, inspired by Julia Quinn's bestselling novels.

While the show is set almost entirely in London, Brighton’s Theatre Royal was used as a filming location for a concert scene in episode seven of the show.

The Grade II listed theatre is one of the oldest and most distinguished in the country, making it a perfect backdrop for the glamorous drama.

Filming locations are not the only connection the hit costume drama has to Sussex.

Luke Newton, who stars as Colin Bridgerton, was born in Shoreham.

Flesh and Blood, ITV

The ITV series was filmed in houses by the beach in Eastbourne and at Normans Bay near Pevensey.

The four-part series is a thriller about three siblings whose recently widowed mother suddenly declares her love for a new man, causing suspicion to arise in the family.

Russell Tovey and Imelda Staunton star in the family drama, which was written by Sarah Williams.

While the show was originally released in 2020, it is among a whole host of dramas to be added to ITV’s on demand service.

Grace, ITV

Grace is based on Peter James’ first two books, Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead.

According to the ITV synopsis, the first film, Dead Simple, “opens with Grace running enquiries into long forgotten cold cases with little or no prospect of success.

"He is fixated by the disappearance of his beloved wife, Sandy, which haunts his thoughts.

"His unorthodox police methods have come under scrutiny once again and Grace is walking a career tightrope and risks being moved from the job he loves most.”

The series has been filmed entirely at locations in Sussex.

These include Sydney Street and Marine Parade in Brighton.

Film crews were also spotted in Western Esplanade and Silverdale Road in Hove

Other filming locations include a Southern Rail train carriage, the Van Alen building in Marine Parade in Brighton, Shoreham Port and spots along the seafront, as well as Woodingdean and Peacehaven.
