THREE more Covid-19 deaths have been reported across Sussex, according to the latest NHS figures.

One person was reported to have died as of 5pm on Wednesday at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, bringing the total number of deaths at the trust to 437.

Two deaths were recorded by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust over the period, bringing its total number of fatalities to 650 people.

A total of 146 new cases were reported across Sussex, as of 9am yesterday.

There were 19 new cases recorded in Brighton and Hove, which takes the total number of cases in the city to 13,930, since the pandemic began.

In East Sussex there were 49 new cases confirmed, which means 29,856 people have now tested positive in the county.

There were 78 more cases in West Sussex, where 39,874 people have now tested positive for the virus.

Across the UK, 9,985 more cases were confirmed, bringing the national total to 4,154,562, since the pandemic hit.

Nationally 323 more Covid-19 deaths were recorded, within 28 days of a positive test, bringing the total UK death toll to 122,070.

It comes as the UK’s coronavirus alert level was lowered from level five to four yesterday, for the first time since January 4.

The four UK chief medical officers and NHS England’s national medical director agreed the change, but urged people to “remain vigilant” by following lockdown rules.
