A MUSICIAN is preparing to take on an endurance challenge for a children’s hospice.

Mike Kerr, one half of rock duo Royal Blood, has set out to complete on a 4x4x48 challenge.

This means that for 48 hours, he will be running four miles every four hours.

The rockstar, who lives in Brighton, will start at 4am on Saturday as part of a worldwide charity fundraising event.

Mike will be raising money for Chestnut Tree House Hospice, a charity that cares for children with life-shortening conditions and their families in Sussex and South East Hampshire.

He said: “I got into running during lockdown and when I heard about this endurance challenge, I thought ‘why not?’

“I like the idea that many other people around the world will be taking part at the same time and raising money for lots of worthwhile causes.

“Chestnut Tree House is my local children’s hospice, and while they need support all the time, they’ve been hit hard by the pandemic so I’m hoping to raise some funds for the vital work they do.

“The care they provide for children and families is so important. I’m honoured to be able to help in this small way.”

The 4x4x48 Challenge was started by Navy SEAL and American endurance athlete David Goggins in 2020.

It is free to enter and people from around the world will be taking part and raising money for different charities.

Everyone will start and complete the challenge at the same time, exercising for around 45-60 minutes of each four-hour leg for 48 hours.

Grant Phillips, fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House said he was grateful to Mike for choosing to support the charity.
