SAFFRON Barker shocked viewers of The Celebrity Circle last night as she revealed she had "no idea" who her co-stars were.

The Brighton YouTuber joined the line-up for the first celebrity series of the social media game show, in which contestants can only communicate using virtual messages.

Former Big Breakfast host Denise Van Outen and Blue singer Duncan James are among those competing to be voted the most popular, as participants rank each other throughout the show.

But as the first episode aired last night, Saffron admitted: "I feel rude because I don’t actually know who Denise or Duncan is, but they probably don’t have a clue who I am either".

As she looked at Denise Van Outen's profile photo, the 20-year-old said: "She’s actually the same age as my mum.

"I actually don’t know what she does."

Fans were left baffled by Saffron's confession.

Writing on Twitter, one wrote: "She doesn't know who Duncan James or Denise van Outen are?

"Excuse me? I'll be writing to Ofcom two days in a row".

Another penned: "Saffron doesn't know who national treasure Denise Van Outen is!? Not that I know who Saffron is."

Others remarked that Saffron's ignorance made them "feel old", while others even suggested she should be kicked off the show.

However Saffron was right, as Denise Van Outen admitted she didn't know who the social media star was either.

Writing on The Circle group chat, she wrote: "Sorry but who are you?"

Saffron, who starred on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, also lied about her relationship status to other contestants to improve her chances in the competition.

"I’m really happy in my relationship, but if flirting has to be done, it has to be done," she said as she put her relationship status in to the system.

The Celebrity Circle series is in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 to aid life-saving research.

The show continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
