A group of "lazy" flytippers were caught on camera dumping a piano in a residential street in the early hours.

The baffling actions were captured in Hazel Way, Crawley, by a Ring doorbell - a device which records what is going on outside the owner's door when it detects movement.

Yesterday, Mid Sussex Police issued an appeal for information on the unusual incident, which happened at 1.30am on Wednesday.

In a post on social media, Inspector Darren Taylor said: "Our lazy and non-environmental lot have been at it again, flytipping in Hazel Way, Crawley Down this time.

"It happened at 1.30am on March 10. This time they decided to dump a piano before driving off. (We are) looking for any Ring doorbell or CCTV footage of the vehicle."

Three hours after issuing the appeal, Inspector Taylor again took to social media to share video footage (above) he had been sent of the culprits dumping the piano.

He said: "(This) struck a chord. Remember our music-loving flytippers who dumped a piano in Hazel Way, Crawley Down, yesterday morning at about 01.30am? Well, here is some CCTV footage of them.

"Very strange indeed, with some of them actually using torches as they wheel the giant piano down the road."
