A NEW court date has been announced for a boy accused of the murder of a city restaurant boss.

The teenager was charged over the death of the Donatello and Pinocchio restaurant owner Sue Addis.

Mrs Addis was found dead at her £1 million home in Cedars Gardens, Withdean on January 7.

The death of the 69-year-old mother and grandmother shocked the community, with hundreds of tributes and messages of condolence being issued.

Police charged the 17-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, with murder.

During a 14 minute hearing at Brighton Crown Court, lawyers agreed a new court date when the teenager may enter a plea to the charges.

Her Honour Judge Laing QC said efforts are being made to make sure court hearings and trials for young defendants are organised as swiftly as possible.

Deanna Heer represented the Crown Prosecution Service during the hearing, while David Sonn represented the boy.

A new court hearing was set to take place on May 11, and a possible trial date has been listed on August 9 this year.
