VEGANS looking for tasty takeaway couldn’t be in a better place to find their favourite dish, research has found.

Ranked in terms of population, Brighton and Hove has the highest number of animal-free products to order food in on Uber Eats.

On average there are 89 restaurants offering a vegan option per 100,000 people in the population.

That makes our city the number one hotspot for anyone looking to order in a tasty bite to eat.

But research by Garden of Life, a supplier of vitamins, protein and probiotics, threw up one or two surprises.

The study found that Brighton and Hove was second on the list of the percentage of overall restaurants that offer meat-free and animal free options.

Liverpool’s restaurants were most likely to provide vegan options, with 63 per cent of its venues offering the meat-free and animal product free menu choices, compared to 57 per cent in Brighton and Hove.

Brighton and Hove’s restaurants were given good praise on Uber Eats, with an average score of 4.5 out of five.

Previously The Argus reported how Brighton and Hove was the best city for vegans in the country.

Meanwhile earlier this year, Wild Flour Pizza in Ovingdean was voted as the best vegan takeaway in the city.

What The Pitta in East Street was recommended as one of the top spots in the city, with its vegan version of the döner kebab, “ChickN nuggets”, soya gyros and plenty of falafel.

London has the highest number of restaurants offering vegan choices, with more than 2,600 offering the choice for delivery.

That is ten times the number here, where 218 of the 383 restaurants have meat-free options.

In the new research, Brighton and Hove was in top six of satisfaction with diners, alongside London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Glasgow, and Stoke on Trent.

Garden of Life said: “We took the total amount of restaurants offering takeaway services and number these which offered vegan takeaway options from Tripadvisor to work out the percentage of vegan takeaway options in each town and city.

“Using ONS data to get the total population of each town and city, we also worked out how many vegan takeaways there are per every 100,000 people in each place.

“Finally, we took average review ratings for each vegan takeaway in each town and city, according to Uber Eats.”
