A road remains closed more than seven hours after a "serious collision" involving a motorbike and a food delivery van.

The motorbike rider, a man in his 70s, suffered "potentially life-changing injuries" in the crash on the A284 London Road at Arundel this morning.

Police were called at 11.15am to reports of a collision involving a red Triumph motorcycle and a food delivery van.

Officers closed the road and warned drivers planning to travel that way to "find an alternative route" as they dealt with "a serious road traffic collision".

The road remains closed.

Shortly before 6pm, Sussex Police spokeswoman provided an update on the situation.

She said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision on the A284 London Road at Arundel.

"At 11.15am on Thursday, March 18, officers received a report of a collision involving a red Triumph motorcycle and a food delivery van.

"The motorcycle rider, a man in his 70s, has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with potentially life-changing leg injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any relevant dash cam footage, is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101 quoting Operation Crossbow."
