A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a van along the seafront.

Emergency services were called to Grand Junction Road in Brighton shortly before 1pm today.

Witnesses saw ambulances and police patrol vehicles at the scene near the pier.

A van struck the woman and she was injured.

At the scene paramedics treated her before taking her to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road.

Meanwhile officers spoke with people who had seen what happened.

Sussex Police said: “We responded to a road traffic collision involving a woman and a van in Grand Junction Road, Brighton at 12.53pm on Friday.

“The woman suffered a minor injury and has been taken to hospital for treatment.”
